Introducing Recycle New Brunswick’s new CEO
This month, we thought it would be a good idea to introduce you to our new CEO.
Tim LeBlanc comes to us from the Department of Environment and Local Government where he has spent the past 31 years. He has held numerous oversight roles in various sectors, including drinking water, municipal wastewater, solid waste, petroleum storage, contaminated sites and pesticides. Most recently, he was with the Climate Change Secretariat as Acting Executive Director where he was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Province’s Climate Change Action Plan.
Tim was born in Saint John and raised in Fredericton North, where he still resides today. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He then worked briefly in the construction business before being hired by the Department of Environment and Local Government in 1993.
In addition to his regulatory experience, Tim played a leadership role in the development of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program for packaging and paper products, making him a perfect fit to take over as CEO of Recycle New Brunswick. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick and past president of the Nashwaaksis Y Service Club. On a personal note, he is married to wife, Joanne, and has two grown children – Abbie and James – and two cockapoos named Candie and Weber.
Tim will be taking over for our outgoing CEO, Frank LeBlanc, who will be retiring at the end of September after more than 30 years in the government sector. Frank has been with Recycle NB for five years; in that time overseeing the launches of three new EPR programs for packaging and paper products, pharmaceutical products and medical sharps, and beverage containers.
We are thrilled to have Tim on board as we prepare to take on two additional EPR programs for batteries and lightbulbs. We expect this to happen very soon, so stay tuned for those announcements. In the meantime, a warm welcome to Tim!
