Our power, our planet
NEW BRUNSWICK, April 22, 2025 – In honour of Earth Day 2025, Recycle New Brunswick would like to encourage New Brunswickers to reduce waste, support community environmental initiatives and recycle designated materials.
Earth Day is a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and taking action to protect our oceans, air, eco-systems and wildlife. Earth Day activities could include community cleanups, tree plantings or setting up a recycling program for your school or apartment building (please visit https://www.circularmaterials.ca/provincial-programs/recycling-in-new-brunswick/ and click on Community Information to find out more).
The theme of Earth Day this year is Our Power, Our Planet – a call to make renewable energy solutions such as solar, wind and other technologies accessible and affordable as part of efforts to reduce air and water pollution. As part of this year’s theme, global leaders are being encouraged to set a target to increase renewable energy usage by 30% by 2030.
Each year, more than 1 billion people around the world participate in Earth Day activities. The movement began in 1970 to raise awareness about the deteriorating environment and now involves more than 190 countries. Read more about supporting Earth Day initiatives at www.earthday.org.
